Natural Remedies for Yeast Infections
Yogurt, Nature's RemedyAs a woman, I hate "baking bread". Nope, I'm not talking about the actual art of putting some bread into the oven, but the reality of yeast infections, which rank highly among women as the annoyance making them the most uncomfortable throughout the day. Because yeast infections are not sick-day worthy in the eyes of men, it means sitting through your work-day at the office, feeling irritable and squirming uncomfortably in your chair. Frankly, it's just another one of those things that makes being a woman not so great.
When I was younger, you couldn't get over-the-counter medications like Vagisil to treat a yeast infection. Instead, you had to go to the doctor and pick up a prescription first and with the risk of dating myself even more, I couldn't just go to the Internet for a home remedy or cure of which there are many. Here is a list of three of the most common remedies, which can more than likely be found at your neighborhood grocery store.
Yogurt is favored by many due to the acidophiles content. Strangely enough, the yogurt needs to be planted directly into the vulva. I haven't tried this myself, but this site mentions freezing the yogurt in a tampon applicator and then inserting the frozen yogurt. Can we say ick? If you are worried about leakage and would prefer the frozen method of insertion, why not just try a jello shot mold? I believe you can purchase them at Ikea for relatively cheaply so you wouldn't have to re-use your them again for actual jello shots. The yogurt cannot have any flavor or sugar or additives.
I just learned about the next method, which is to place a peeled garlic clove directly into the vagina at night According to this article, you can keep it there several hours, and re-insert another clove the next night until the infection is gone. If you are curious about this method, definitely check out the article, which gives a more full detailing of the dos and don't for garlic. For more garlic benefits, check out this article here.
Tea Tree Oil, which is also good for keeping your skin fresh and pimple-free, can be diluted and applied to the yeast infection area. Scientists have narrowed down the success of tea tree oil to terpinen-4-ol, which means absolutely nothing to me. The tea tree oil can also be applied on a tampon after putting a few drops on the tampon. (no need to freeze the tampon) For specific informations on this method, check out this site here.
Also, please be aware that you can spread a yeast infection back and forth with your sexual partner. For more information about this, please read here.
